ANNE grew up in Larchmont, NY, the daughter of a psychiatrist and a teacher. She was classically trained on the violin from age four via the Suzuki method and performed in various musicals throughout high school. After graduating from Harvard, where she honed her vocal arranging skills as musical director of a co-ed a cappella group, she formed and fronted the LA alternative rock band, Ednaswap. The band released 3 major label albums and an EP and toured with the likes of No Doubt and Weezer.
While in her band Ednaswap, Preven co-wrote “Torn” which was covered by Natalie Imbruglia and went on to become one of the most performed songs of the decade. The song can currently be heard in the Broadway hit, Moulin Rouge.
In 2006, Anne was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award— and won the Critic’s Choice Award—for “Listen,” performed by Beyoncé in the motion-picture adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls. (The song appeared on both the Dreamgirls soundtrack as well as Beyoncé’s blockbuster “BDAY” album and was added to the West End’s celebrated revival of the musical at The Savoy Theatre.) In 2011, Anne was also honored with a Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for her collaboration with Zac Brown Band on “Where the River Goes.”
Over the years, Anne has produced or contributed original songs to several animated films including Tangled (Disney), Bolt (Disney), Wonder Park (Paramount) and Playmobil The Movie (StudioCanal/STX.) She wrote and produced “Wake Up” for Julie and the Phantoms, (Netflix) and “Soul Glo” for Coming to America 2 (Paramount films.) Having created music for Amazon’s Transparent and I Love Dick TV series, Anne was tapped to Executive Produce the music for Transparent’s movie musical finale (Amazon) and accompanying soundtrack. She also Executive Produced the music for Amazon’s 2021 Cinderella movie musical starring Camilla Cabello and Billie Porter.
Anne lives in Los Angeles with her partner Davis, their two kids Max and Mars, and an assortment of animals.
